identity-affirming services

Too often, psychological evaluations and treatment focus exclusively on identifying and fixing problems. We use strength-based and identity-affirming approaches in all of the services that we provide. Our goal is to empower each client to understand and harness their unique skill set based on their neurodivergence, disability, and other identities.

Psychological Evaluations

We love working with children, adolescents, and adults to help them understand how they may be differently wired in some way. This includes giftedness, learning disabilities (including Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia), ADHD, intellectual disabilities, Autism, trauma, and mental health conditions. Some of our additional specialties include twice exceptionality (both gifted and having a disability) and atypical presentations of Autism, including Autism in girls and PDA (Persistent Drive for Autonomy/Demand Avoidance). Using a strengths-based, neuro-affirming approach to our evaluations means that we provide recommendations to support our clients’ needs and strengths.

THerapy

We support children, adults, and families with a variety of areas of life functioning, including emotion regulation, executive functioning, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, friendship issues/bullying, self-confidence, identity development, and parenting. We are passionate about helping our clients to better understand the intersection of neurodivergence, disability, and mental health. We use eclectic and non-traditional therapeutic approaches that are customized to meet each client’s needs. Our job is to empower our clients to use their strengths to reach their full potential.

Independent Educational Evaluations

If your child has recently received a school-based evaluation with which you disagree, we will work with your family and your child’s school team to conduct an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE). This includes a comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation and consultation with the school team to help them understand how to best support your child. We strongly believe in collaboration and equipping educators to support your child. We will work together to navigate this process and to advocate for the best interests of your child.

gifted testing

We love working with families to determine if their child may be gifted. We have extensive knowledge of how giftedness can be masked in twice exceptional students. Based on your child’s unique neurodivergence, we will choose the best test to capture your child’s intelligence.

Dyslexia screenings

If you are concerned about your child’s reading progress, we can conduct a short screener to determine whether further assessments are warranted. We will also provide recommendations for supporting your child’s literacy development based on the results of the screener.

Summer IEP Extension Program (including orton-gillingham)

Our certified Intervention Specialist provides intensive academic instruction over the summer to prevent skill loss between school years. Using evidence-based instructional methods, including Orton-Gillingham, the summer IEP extension program is customized to each child’s unique learning goals in reading, writing, and/or math. Recommendations for the frequency and intensity of the intervention will be provided based on baseline assessments. Children in the summer IEP extension program will receive beginning- and end-of-summer assessments as well as regular progress monitoring to track their growth. A report will be provided at the end of summer so that parents can share the progress with their child’s school team in the fall. Please note that the summer IEP extension program is not billable to insurance.

Professional development

We provide professional development and training for mental health professionals, educators, students, and parents to equip them to better support neurodivergent children, adolescents, and young adults. Examples of our previous trainings include: mental health gatekeeping, suicide prevention/postvention, crisis response, executive functioning, learning disabilities (including the assessment and identification of Dyslexia), evaluation for Autism, and youth social media use.

educational services for schools

We contract with school districts to provide a variety of psychoeducational services. This includes Special Education evaluations, counseling services, and professional development. We are experts at identifying Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia. We are trained in assessing complex presentations of Autism. We also have extensive knowledge in assessing English Learners (EL students). We love working with schools and are passionate about bringing high-quality psychoeducational services to all children. We also believe strongly in equipping educators with the knowledge they need to help their students succeed.
